[Update: Please note the Awards has been rescheduled for 27 May 2022]

Every year, the forestry industry from throughout the lower South Island meet for an evening of celebration in Dunedin. It’s the one event clearly marked on everyone’s forestry calendar.

We are pleased to announce that the 2022 Southern Wood Council Forestry Awards will be taking place on 27 May 2022 in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Like previous years, around 350 forest managers, forestry contractors, wood processing and transport operators and product and service suppliers to the industry from throughout the lower South Island are expected to attend the awards evening at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium.

As well as 9 major forestry awards, over 150 National Training Certificates will be presented to top local contractors, forestry and wood processing employees.

“The message on the value of the awards event has certainly found its mark, with many companies bringing through all of their staff and workers, from Invercargill through to Timaru. At the last event, one local contractor brought through close to 40 of their workers to celebrate their achievements in picking up training qualifications, as well as rewarding the harvesting crews for their efforts over the year,” said Grant Dodson, Chairman of the Southern Wood Council.

“The continued turnout by forestry workers, their families and supporters reflect the momentum that’s been building over the last few years with training and safety in this region”.
